St. Anatoli Kiriggwajjo

ST. ANATOLI KIRIGGWAJJO

He was a Munyoro, who was captured from Kyaka County in Toro and presented to Kabaka Muteesa I by Kisomose before 1862.

He served in the inner enclosure mainly the king’s house (Twekobe); he was also a skilled hunter and a good herdsman.

After the death of Kabaka Muteesa I, Kiriggwajjo despite being assigned by Kabaka Mwanga II to a place of great responsibility he turned it down in preference to join his countryman Andrew Kaggwa which annoyed the kabaka. When the Christian persecution broke out, the Kabaka singled him out for despising him and Anatoli was burnt alive on the 3rd of June 1886 at the age of about twenty.

ST. ANATOLI IS THE PATRON OF HUNTERS AND HERDSMEN, DIARY FARMERS AND VETERINARY DOCTORS
