ST. ANDREW KAGGWA

He was a Munyoro who was captured by a party of raiding Baganda fromKkooki parish in Bugangaizi County.

He started his services with Kabaka Muteesa I as a page and then later Kabaka Mwanga II as a bands master.

He was enrolled as a catechumen in 1880 with Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe and was baptized on April 30th 1882 by Fr. Lourdel Simeon Mapeera.

He was also properly married in the Church to Clare Batudde Nakazibwe and was martyred on the 26th of May 1886 as ordered by the kingdom chancellor. Kaggwa’s hands were cut off and taken to the chancellor, then later he was behead” in Munyonyo at the age of about thirty.
